Chapter Fourteen

DEIDRE

When I wake up, it’s because of hot kisses down my spine.

It’s been eight days since the Hollands’ party and Eris’s reveal. I’ve been fluctuating between ignoring it entirely, denying it, and distracting myself with Kasar. If it wasn’t for him, I’d probably drown myself in Rapture to get it over with. Might as well go out high as fuck and feeling great, right? Except Kasar makes me feel so much more than a drug ever can, and he even makes me forget about my Rapture cravings sometimes.

I arch, purring like a cat in heat, as Kasar’s mouth continues its journey. I’m lying on my stomach, pillow clenched between my arms like a lover, and decadently warm in the plush bed. I may not be used to the height of luxurious bed linens, but the maroon-red sheets are silken soft and smooth so they have to be high end. And the pillow I’m holding is thick even as it’s squashed under me.

The cool of the room would normally have me scrabbling and reaching for the comforter that Kasar’s shifting down my body, but the heat of his mouth makes it worth it. Even his cool skin, his thick legs tangled in mine, cranks the sensitivity of my nerves higher. The coarse hair along his calves brush against mine and a momentary thought of needing to shave my legs crosses my mind before Kasar’s tongue swirls against my lower back, making me forget about anything other than him.

When his hand slides under my hips, I tilt them upwards, giving him room to slide his fingers across my mound before they find my sex. A low growl of approval comes when he feels how wet I already am, and then his other hand trails down the cleft of my ass before beginning to tease my entrance. Mind still languid from sleep and now quickly growing arousal, I could honestly get used to waking up like this.

A bleak iciness cuts through the coals glowing in my core. I might even be able to get Kasar to agree since I probably don’t have much time left.

He scrapes the sharp point of his fangs across the top of one of my ass cheeks, pulling a gasp from me as the pain blends with pleasure. I love it when he feeds from me.

“Where’d you go, sweetheart?”

Oh, it’s so not fair how his voice in the morning is raspy and dark. Especially as he whispers the question against my skin, his tongue darting out to soothe the skin under his lips. I have to swallow a couple times for my mouth to be wet enough to answer.

“What do you mean?” I play dumb and push my hips against his hands. “I’m right here.”

“I can hear you thinking,” he answers, his fingers continuing to coax my pleasure higher. The man is the most incredibly patient lover I’ve ever had, and the most attentive.
